DeCiDe - Register of Children with Disabilities
DeCiDe is a register of children in Torbay with disabilities. It holds basic information on children aged 0 to 19 who have a disability or illness which is likely to last for more than 12 months and which has a substantial effect on their ability to carry out everyday activities.
The types of disability that are included in the directory are physical, learning, sensory, speech and language, and health difficulties.
To provide the best and most useful services, the information held in the directory is used to find out how many children in Torbay have a disability. This information, without identifying the family, is provided to organisations to be able to plan, provide and monitor their services effectively. The inclusion of a child's name on the directory is voluntary.
Those registered will:
- be given an ID card and MAX card, both of which give various discounts from a number of providers and activities that the children or young people may wish to use
- receive a twice-yearly letter on news and information about relevant facilities, events and items of interest.
