Torbay Karate Club

Established in 1969, Torbay Karate Club is one of the oldest Karate clubs in the UK. Our focus is on high quality Shotokan Karate, an effective and strong traditional martial art taught in our Karate Club in its full depth for self-defence, confidence, respect for self and others, health and fitness. We don’t cut corners or dilute for commercial gain - this is the genuine martial art of Shotokan Karate as intended by Master Funakoshi!
Karate Grades are truly earned and internationally recognised (can be used as part of GCSE and A-Level PE Syllabus). To learn Karate with our club is an empowering lifelong journey with great personal rewards. We are proud to be affiliated with the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB: www.kugb.org), by far the largest and most successful single-style martial arts association in Great Britain, with a 9th Dan Black Belt Chief Instructor. Opportunities to participate in Karate courses, Karate competitions and social events.
All Torbay Karate Club instructors are Black Belts, qualified, insured, hold current first aid qualifications and are Enhanced CRB (DBS) checked. Our club's Chief Karate Instructor is a 5th Dan Black Belt.
