Supported Lodgings

The aim of the Supported Living Scheme is for young people in need to remain in contact with support until they are at least 18 years old, in keeping with Care Leavers and Homeless legislation. It also enables them to gain the necessary life skills to live independently.
They recruit, train and support families, individuals and couples who have a spare room to offer young people a home with support. Placements usually last between 8 and 24 months and then young people move on to independent living or further supported accommodation.
Both families and young people have their own support worker to support and monitor placement progress. As part of Young Devon, young people and families are able to access wider services, e.g., counselling, opportunities and training through the organisation.
The scheme has been developed in partnership with Social Services, Housing and Supporting People.
