Eat That Frog CIC (Torquay)

We are an ideal alternative to school or college for young people who have not thrived in a mainstream environment. Through person centred approaches, we provide bespoke courses for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), specialising in supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
Study Programmes are for young people who are aged 16-18 (if you are 19+ and have an EHCP you are funded as a 16-18 Study Programme Learner).
We offer full-time Study Programmes that are designed to prepare people for adulthood. They combine a specialist qualification, with skills including English and Maths up to GCSE level, as well as preparation and participation in employability. The Study Programme has been developed because we want to help everyone leaving school become well prepared for the workplace and higher education and to living a fulfilled and independent life.
Everything we do is person-centred, creating individualised pathways for learners to help them break down their barriers and achieve their goals. We have recently been graded ‘GOOD’ across the board by Ofsted for our education & training services for young people and adults.
With our small group sizes, dedicated tutors, 1:1 mentoring and bespoke programmes, we offer the personal support and guidance that many larger institutions are simply unable to provide.
What makes us really special is the effort we put into helping learners with their social skills and coping mechanisms - building confidence, reducing anxiety levels, and integrating into small groups. Our Ofsted Inspection in March 2018 highlighted this, praising our ‘caring and nurturing’ environment.
Along with improving functional Maths, English and IT, learners gain work-related skills. We tailor the programme to match each individual, but areas currently studied include Catering, Horticulture, Business administration, Health & Social Care/Childcare, Art & Craft, Photography, Sports & Fitness, plus a wide range of Digital Skills such as apps, gaming, PC Building, web design, electronic music and graphics.
We offer our learners the best progression routes to enable them to enter the world of work with confidence and the skills to succeed. This may include work experience or volunteering options, or other supported work environments. We work closely with local employers to give the widest variety of options for our learners. As a Community Interest Company, we blend our learning with fun projects and ideas that get our young people out into our local community, which has the dual benefit of building their confidence and self-esteem while supporting and helping others.
